The Master of Music in Music Technology builds on the foundation of an undergraduate music degree by offering three tracks: Education, Composition, and Production. Each track is designed to equip graduate students with hardware and software technologies used in the field of music today.
This program emphasizes musical and technical skills needed by creative artists and communicators, along with current research and technology. Much of the program can be completed through distance learning. Educators, worship leaders, practicing performers, and composers alike will benefit from the training this degree provides.
The program may be completed in 33 credit hours total. The degree may be earned in three summers or in a traditional two-year approach. Each course is 3 credit hours except applied-performance courses, which vary from 1 to 2 credits each.
University of Valley Forge’s facilities include a twenty-four track digital audio recording studio, SD and HD broadcast studios, a fifteen-station video editing lab, a fifteen-station audio production suite, and a multimedia production room. Students will each be assigned a fully-equipped state-of-the-art workstation during the class.
Courses are evaluated at the time of admission into the program. Requirements include submission of a transcript, minimum grades, equivalent credits, and contact hours.
Most courses are available through synchronous distance learning (except Sound Reinforcement, Digital Audio, FinalCutPro, and Podcasting). Distance learning students must be in class virtually during scheduled hours and must own the software and hardware used in class.
