Dreams Do Come True

by Office of Marketing | May 01, 2011
The son of missionaries Rich and Jenni (Hall) DeMartino, Justin DeMartino '07 spent the majority of his life in Central and South America as a Missionary Kid. He learned Spanish as he played on the streets with his friends, and got to travel to the jungles of Paraguay to minister to people who had never even heard the name of Jesus. As a child, Justin saw supernatural miracles and learned early in life who God was. He graduated with six of his close friends from an English-speaking high school in Mexico.

In 2003, he moved back to the States and began attending school at Valley Forge Christian College. He declared a Vocal Performance major, but decided to switch to World Missions after a year. During one missions chapel, he sang on the worship team with Jamie Kuert '05, who became his wife in 2006. On June 5, 2007, their daughter, Isabella Rose, was born.

Although Justin and Jamie had a heart to work with children overseas, their school loan debt wouldn't allow them to apply to be missionaries right away. Justin's goal was to get a good job to pay off their loans and he began working for Fed Ex and building homes with the Amish. He also tried to gain as much experience as possible in his church, especially in music.

In 2008, he met a friend at church who worked at Sight and Sound in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and who encouraged Justin to apply to the company. Not long after, Justin was hired and cast as the Baby Elephant in In the Beginning. As plans for the next production, Joseph, got underway, Justin was given the opportunity to sing the promotional song, "When Dreams Come True." Justin even had the opportunity toy travel to Florida to sing the song at the Latin America Assemblies of God World Missions Conference. The theme of the conference was "Dreams Do Come True."
