UVF_0482(2)The 15th annual Patriot Classic golf tournament was held June 1, 2017 at the Kimberton Golf Club in Phoenixville. The day could not have been a more beautiful one to play golf and raise scholarship money for students at the University of Valley Forge (UVF).

The Day
The teams who participated were made up of alumni and friends of the university. Tyra Teberian, UVF's Director of Development and Missionary in Residence said, "I truly was encouraged to see everyone come out to support the golf tournament and the raising of scholarships for the students of the university. It’s a new day at UVF! I am excited to see that the local churches and community businesses are standing with us as we work to raise the next generation of spiritual leaders."

The golfers who attended enjoyed a day of golf and fellowship, along with a catered barbecue lunch. After the tournament, the Awards dinner was held in UVF's Flower Chapel.

This year's winning team was Jon Wegner, Mike Van Horn, Rich Taschek, and Jurie Swart from Marlton Assembly of God in Marlton, New Jersey. The runner-up team was Matt Hayes, John Caufield, Tim Hobbs, and Dale Curtis from Sovereign Insurance Group in Devon, Pennsylvania. First-time Patriot Classic participant Richard Trate won the straightest drive competition. Dan Boothman ‘90 won the longest drive competition. Bryon White, pastor of Kingsway Church in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, won closest to the pin and also became a Legacy Club member.

Legacy Club
The Legacy Club is made up of golfers who have participated in Patriot Classics for 10 years or more. Along with White, 6 other golfers joined the Legacy Club this year, including Carl Colletti, chairman of UVF's Board of Trustees. We are so thankful to our Legacy Club members, donors, longtime supporters, and Kimberton Golf Club for graciously hosting.
