12 Dec Christmas at Valley Forge 2018
November 30 and December 1, 2018 saw the University of Valley Forge put on their 14th annual Christmas at Valley Forge concert. Thankfully, concertgoers were not deterred by the threatening rain, and the luminaries lining the roads and sidewalks welcomed everyone who came. Those in attendance enjoyed festive contemporary and classic pieces performed by the Music Department’s ensembles.
Talented musicians and singers comprised the four groups performing during the evening: the Wind Ensemble, the Patriot Bells, the Jazz Ensemble, and the University Choir. Each group performed beautiful and inspirational Christmas songs, ushering the entire campus and surrounding community into the joyous season. The first half of the concert was accompanied by a dazzling light show, and included a Christmas carol sing-along with the audience.
The second half – in keeping with tradition – consisted of the University Choir singing excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, supported by an orchestra and conducted by Dr. William DeSanto, chair of the Music Department. Over 750 people attended both performance nights along with an online viewing audience of almost 1000 watching the live chapel stream.
Special thanks to UVF’s Music Department, student and local musicians, vocalists, and the UVF Media Production Team for their talent and hours of hard work that went into putting on another fantastic Christmas at Valley Forge concert!
