31 May Gruber Teaches at Children’s Ministry Conference in Philippines
On May 17, 2018, Dr. Richard (Dick) Gruber, professor of Children’s Studies in the Ministry Leadership and Theology department at the University of Valley Forge (UVF), traveled to Baguio City, Philippines to serve as a keynote speaker to the Children’s Ministry Institute. The institute was hosted by Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS) and included 80-90 children’s ministry leaders and missionaries from 23 countries in the Southern Pacific region, including the island nations of Tonga and Vanuatu.
Also joining Gruber was Mark Entzminger, the National Children’s Ministry Director of the Assemblies of God (AG). Gruber spoke for both the opening banquet and the Friday evening service, as well as taught a few classes each day of the conference – including how to apply clown makeup. This conference was the second one Gruber attended in Baguio City – the first being two years prior – where he was able to reconnect and form new friendships.
Gruber is the author of multiple books and articles about children’s ministry, including his two newest, Foundations of Children’s Evangelism, and 6 Children’s Ministry Essentials, A Quick Access Guide, a collaboration with Entzminger. The UVF community is privileged to have Dr. Gruber as an alumnus, respected faculty member, and veteran of children’s ministry.
