New Digital Media Communications Major Launched

by Office of Marketing | Jun 15, 2008
Valley Forge Christian College is pleased to announce its newest major in Digital Media Communications. Correspondence received this week from Pennsylvania Department of Education secretary Dr. Gerald Zahorchak authorized the Bachelor of Science program for VFCC. Congratulating VFCC on the new major, the secretary commented, "I commend you for the progress made with this program. It is evident that you...have worked to develop a program that will enrich education in the Commonwealth."

The Digital Media Communications major is a multidisciplinary program that concentrates on fundamentals of design, video and audio production, web design, and media distribution. "VFCC's Digital Media Communications program is much different than traditional Communication degrees," said Dan Desrosiers, Media Specialist. "Whereas other programs concentrate on one niche of production such as design or broadcast, our classes reinforce today's need for media producers who are competent in all areas of the production process." Classes such as Webcasting, Streaming, and Podcasting, Web Design and Implementation, and Design and Visual Language prepare students in theories of communication, as well as the newest creation and distribution technologies.

Students may enroll beginning with the fall 2008 semester. Students enrolling in the Digital Media Communications major will use state of the art hardware and software designed to make them competitive in the marketplace or in graduate study. All qualifying freshmen will receive a brand new MacBook Pro laptop computer as well as our $5,000 New Majors Scholarship. Students will intern in the digital media industry, with award-winning organizations such as Get-Kinetic and Stream Companies
