13th Annual Patriot Classic

On June 4, 2015, the University of Valley Forge (UVF) hosted the 13th annual Patriot Classic Golf Tournament. For years, the tournament has been held at the Kimberton Golf Club in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. UVF alumni and friends arrived at the course on a beautiful late spring day for a friendly round of golf.
The golf tournament raises scholarship funds and provides an opportunity for friends who are near and far to reconnect and share a day of golf. For evangelist and UVF alum Greg Hubbard ‘81, the Patriot Classic is about bonding with old friends and meeting new ones. “The golf is part of it but it’s about relationships and seeing people,” he said.
The Patriot Classic concluded with a dinner and fellowship at the campus. The 2015 Patriot Classic winning foursome were Craig Smith, Rev. Jon Wegner, Rich Tascheck and Mike Van Horn from Marlton Assembly of God in Marlton, New Jersey. Tom Hassel, Greg Webb, Jerry Friedhoff and Guy Tirondala from Life Chapel were the runner-ups. The longest drive winners were Tom Hassel and Denise Dryburgh from C. Raymond Davis & Sons. Rev. Jon Wegner won straightest drive and Justin Bechtel from Calvary Assembly of God won closest to the pin.
More than 90 alumni, staff and friends of the university participated in the tournament and helped raise over $14,000 in scholarship funds for UVF students. In the 13 years of the Patriot Classic's history, over $100,000 in scholarship funds have now been raised. UVF thanks its supporters, comprised of alumni, friends and sponsors, for their continued support of the Patriot Classic.
