The University of Valley Forge (UVF) celebrates with Angela Severn, the new full-time head athletic trainer. Severn comes to UVF as a contractor through NovaCare Rehabilitation, a physical therapy service provider. Her work is essential to UVF’s athletic program as Severn not only treats injuries but also helps to prevent injuries from occurring.

As a student at Ohio State University, Severn was a varsity swimmer and record holder. After graduating in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, Severn went on to receive her master’s degree in 2014 in clinical athletic training at Bloomsburg University. As a certified athletic trainer, she was later hired by NovaCare Rehabilitation in Philadelphia until she accepted the open position at UVF in July of this year.

As head athletic trainer, Severn's oversight helps to prevent the injuries of student- athletes through implementing strength training routines that assist athletes in maintaining proper body alignment. Severn’s training also targets the muscles necessary to reduce the risk of injuries specific to athletes’ sports. “My job is to keep them healthy in all areas of life and to help them reach all that they can,” said Severn.

Severn hopes to leave a lasting spiritual and physical impact on the student- athletes at UVF. Concerning this lasting impact Severn says, “I want to motivate them to always reach their fullest potential and to give all the glory to God.”
